Prenatal and Obstetric Care

Obstetric Services

We offer a full range of obstetric services, including normal and high-risk obstetrics, vaginal birth after cesarean section, amniocentesis and in-office ultrasound. Deliveries are done at Good Shepherd Hospital's Birth Center, and through our association with Good Shepherd you also have access to a full range of educational courses on prenatal care, childbirth and caring for infants. We provide flat-rate pricing for a simple uncomplicated vaginal delivery including pre- and post-delivery visits, with other services available depending on your needs as a patient.

We also have additional services available such as collection of umbilical cord blood for donation or for freezing and possible later use. For donation there are minimal costs (all related to additional testing); for personal use the fees are somewhat higher due to the set up of storage. If you're interested in these options please discuss it with your physician during the first two trimesters and we can provide you with more information.

Obstetric Appointments

Your pre-natal appointments will be arranged at approximately 4-week intervals during your first seven months of pregnancy and more frequently after that. We encourage you to rotate your schedule of appointments, making at least one appointment with each of our physicians - that way you can become acquainted with each of us and those rotations will give all of us the chance to be familiar with you. Each of us will get to know your individual medical history, your individual needs and any of your special requests. After that, when your baby is due the on-call physician will already know you and you'll know him or her.

Delivery

When labor has begun and your contractions are regular at six to seven minute intervals, please phone us. We also need to be notified when your water breaks or if any bleeding occurs. We will notify Good Shepherd Hospital of your impending arrival.

Good Shepherd Hospital Admissions

Our office will provide you with a Pre-Admission Packet for Good Shepherd. This packet will facilitate your arrival at the hospital when it is time to have your baby. You will need to have your insurance information as well as the name of your pediatrician available to complete the form. If this packet is completed and sent to the hospital before your seventh month of pregnancy, you won't need to stop at the Admitting Department on your way into the hospital - you can head straight to the Birth Center!
